    • Trail UpdateMuch Better Now-Big improvements with increased usage. Sandy sections on Grout Bay are shrinking (still be careful when you hit them) and all the downed trees on Gray's peak are cleared.

    • Trail UpdateGrout Bay After Winter 11'-Rode this and Gray's peak a couple weeks ago.I prefer the counter clockwise loop starting at Fawnskin fire station.Winter 11' has taken it's toll on the trail. Beware lots of deep, fine sand in curves and washes.A number of downed trees across the Gray's peak trail but it is still worth the peddle.

    • Trail UpdateAnother Option @ Grout Bay-running out of time to hit this before the snow & eagles return, which is too bad 'cause it's in great shape. Park at Gray's Peak trailhead (1/2 mi outside of Fawnskin toward the dam)and climb out on the trailhead to 2N68 - turn R and pick up Grout Bay Trail (just past Gray's Peak turnoff). Ride this all the way to Hanna Campground and back. It's a 13mi loop that is mostly a roller with little net change in elevation - always around 7000'. If you still got juice on the return, hit Gray's Peak for a 2mi/900' climb before you finish with a great single track decent back to the Gray's Peak trailhead parking lot. May not sound like much, but you'll need oxygen!

    • Trail UpdateGreat Ride!!!-A few of us rode this trail on 11/12 and had a blast! Temps were cool enough to need a jacket to start but warmed up quite quickly. Trail conditions were perfect. It was a bit hard to find the trail at area 51 with a big downed tree in the way, but we were able to pick it up from the camp just befoe 51 (49?). The single track was great, easy to pick up when crossing fireroads and we basically had it to ourselves.

    • Trail UpdateGood Ride-You can park at the fire dept. or on the road next to it. If you park further up you need an "as if California's taxes weren't rediculous enough adventure pass".

      This is a good ride that starts off on pavement (nice warm up) then goes onto very maintained fire road. After you reach the camping area on the left. Go to site 51 (just remember Area 51). The trail heads off uphill to the right. It is some nice non technical singletrack. The Grays peak climb is good too.

      If you are a sea level person (like me) you will be sucking wind in about five minutes. You will get used to it. 6000 ft = no air.

    • Trail UpdateGrout Bay Loop/ Gray's Peak-Take Rim Of The World Rd. from Fawnskin up til it turns to dirt(3N14), follow to Hanna Flat Campgrounds, roll thru camp to site #51, the trail climbs up from there. when crossing fireroads, trace signs back to trail.
      Grays Peak trail is at the 3/4point, its a challenging 2mile climb up and back, worth the views and the downhill
      the end of the trail comes out at grout bay picnic area,
      hop on the road for a quick roll back to town and your ride

      10miles - grout bay loop
      14miles - with grays peak up and back

      Ride rating: Intermediate
      Ride distance: 10miles Elevation change: 1000ft
      Singletrack=70% Dirt Road=25% Paved Path=5%
