I hate to be a downer but the two motiv bikes that I used to own had bent frames .... folks save your money and spend it on something worth while....

What's the name of your bike? I just bought a groundpounder and I've put it thru some pretty tough trail work, No bent frame yet but I'm not trying to thrash it either! It's a little heavy but I need the weight for training so It's not a problem now.

I don't know about those two, I have a Rockpoint, but mine seems to be a very good bike so far. The company is also very customer friendly and will assist you in any way. If something breaks, they will replace it free of charge, no questions asked.

their website is www.motivsports.com it is currently being updated, so it is unaccessible. hopefully it will be up soon. i don't know about their bicycles, but their joggette for carrying children while running or just trail walking is great. and its big ! I'm 6'8" and it is a nice height for me.

Motiv's phone number is 1-800-742-5877. They open at 8:00 PCT and have excellent service and very nice folks to deal with, will do anything possible to help customers. We bought a couple of Clown Bikes last year for our grandsons for Christmas, they have ridden them so much and both say that's the best gift they've ever received. I called to request some extra tires for when they wear these ones out, were shipped out immediately.

Motiv bikes are sold at Costco. They are not a "high end" bike but I believe they are good bikes. I bought two Motiv's(Stonegrinder and Rockridge)six years ago and they preformed well. They had Shimano brakes/gears/shifters/derailers. I still have them and they work fine but because they are rigid bikes (no suspension), I bought a full suspension bike. The welds, frame, components, all held up and it was a great bike to learn on. You can check www.mtbr.com and see what owners of your type of bike are saying about it.

I've had a motiv rockridge for over a year now, and I have to say it has served me well. When I lived in New England it tore through the woods and stumps, now I live in Tucson and it has preformed just as well if not better on the rocky terrian. It all boils down to what you like... I would say it is a step or two better than most full-suspension bikes in it's price range (that's where buying it at a price club has it's benefits). I don't think you will find a better full-suspension for the price. You could get a better hard tail for less money, but I bought a slightly used Gary Fisher hard-tail and prefer to use the motiv because of the suspension. Some of my buddies who were stuck on the hardtails said things like "they are too heavy" or they "sap-energy" up hills and on strong pushes because of the flex. They have seen me clear rocks that have pitched them, and some of them have fallen in love with them after one ride. Many times it's not the rock or root in front of you that gets you, its the back tire hitting something you thought you cleared... with FS it's just a bump in the trail. If I had to do it all over again with the same budget I would.

We just purchased two Motiv mountin bikes at Costco. They came with manuals. Compared to the other bikes we owned, we like these a lot. We paid $165 each.

Hey! I am glad to hear they are good bikes, my husband and I just bought the same 2 bikes (smoothies?) and we hope they prove to be good for us, at least good exercise. The Katie Trail here in Missouri is a big thing for people to do. Ride some, drink some wine and ride some more.

Today June 8th 2003, I sar (my white man east coast Long Island accent) a lady with the blue/yellow Motiv full susp. bike on the trail. The Costco beauty didn't quite seem up to par as she was walking it up a switchback. Or poorhaps she sucked as a rider. I'm guessing she blows as a rider and the bike being no lightweight didn't help i-there. That is all. Now I must get back to my volleybahl game.

motive bike aren't that good. go to your local bike store to check out some of there bikes. they cost a lot but it is worth the money. bike store bikes are a lot nicer and lighter. they have better shox too. get a giant bike they are really nice. www.giant-bicycles.com

I have a GIANT and a Motiv and for the money GIANT $350 and MOTIV $99, the Motiv totally blows the GIANT away. I have had the GIANT in for repairs back at the GIANT dealer some many times I figured I save more if I would just scrap it. It broke my heart beacause the GIANT is only 3 years old. I am purposely abusing the MOTIV in it's first 30 days to see how it will hold up, and it is totally surprising me.

After hurting my heal running I decided to start biking. I bought a Motiv Groundpounder at Costco. For the money it is a good bike. Seven months later I am now ready to buy a better bike at a bike shop. But, remember not everybody that starts a new athletic regime sticks with it. The Motiv was the right bike at the right price at the time. If I had bought an expensive bike to start and didn't stick with the sport it would have been a waste of money. I have read some of the horror stories of department store bikes, but would like to point out that Costco hires a contractor to assemble their bikes. They don't leave it to a pimple faced kid as an extra chore in the back room.

My son worked doing hay for 3 months and got paid not very much for it. However--he decided he needed a new (for once ) bike and he bought a Motiv bike at Sams Club for about $250. It has had mostly street use, as where we are now, there is no terrain to use. It has been trouble since the first week. Its latest trick is the rear weld broke. This bike is just now about two years old-and doesnt have 300 miles on it. It has had bad gears and anythig else during this 2 years. As far as he is concerned, it was a waste of money and he should have bought a real bike--this is junk.

What many shoppers are unaware of is Costco's total
customer satisfaction guarantee.....whereas Sam's Club
does NOT. You could have put the bike thru its paces over
a week or so to see how it performed and if it did not
meet up to your expectations, you could simply return it.
I know of NO other store that will allow you to do that.
If your bike fell apart be it 6 minutes or 6 years later
they would take it back. Only catch is.....keep your
receipt because you have to have it if you expect a FULL
refund; otherwise, (without it ) you will only get back
the final price thay carried that particular model at when
they brought in newer models.

I just bought a Motiv RockPoint, the was i bought it with the front wheel bent. I sent to motiv and they sent me a NEW bike and my money back! From what i've heard/experianced Motiv is a company looked down on b/c they're not popular yet. My friend bought a Motiv Altitude(BMX), that bike has gone through everything the only other bike i've seen take that beating and keep working was a $500 Mongoose (in BMX terms anyway).

I got a Motiv Plataue BMX bike new for $70, I thought it would be a peice of crap (I planned on replaceing tne parts when they went out) but it turnned out to be really durable and strong. The only thing I had to replace was the mags because they were too heavy.

i got a motiv rock point for x-mas last year and every thing is messing up on it, the rear bearings the fork seals broke the crank stripped and the derailler keeps messing up and body have any suggestions
