Pacific YX 8500
I've recently bought a YX 3500 5 months ago, and it sucked like hell!!! It was heavy, the parts were non-brand name, and my suspention fork offered no travel at all. Im looking for a good bike with a low price, if there is such a thing. Iv'e heard about a Pacific bike called the YX 8500 and I want to know if anyone had any experience with this bike. It seems like it's a pretty good bike. It has RST Disk Brakes, RST 381 XE Triple clamp fork, Ritchey accessories, Ritchey tires, DNM Performance Shock, and an aluminum frame. Is this bike worth the money?? Also I have a question to you Pacific technicians out there, Are the rims on the YX 8500 double-walled, and does the swingarm have sealed bearings in its pivots?? Pacific sounds like bikes that Toy R Us sells. Check out your local bike store for some quality, albeit more expensive, bikes. Going downhill on a cheap bike sounds dangerous to me. If you read into the reviews of Pacific's bikes on Mountain Bike Review, you can see they're not that great, but good for $500. You get what you pay for, just don't break your neck because a cheap part failed. Posted by Endo Verendo a 32 year old Die-hard Enthusiast riding a FSR from Studio City on 3/10/00

I've actually had mine for 1 year now, nothing has gone wrong with it. Suspension is still good, and it's travel is still very smooth. I've put on about 600 miles on it since I got it in September. I rode it going up some trails and it's very confortable. I've even taken it up to Mt. Baldy (if you know where that is) Everything on it is stock, all I added was a speedometer. It's very good price for $500, but take a look at the 9500. I think it's worth the $800 price. I have an old Pacific hardtail in my garage. My impression of Pacific bikes is they look cool, but quality-wise they are better than a Kmart bike, but not as good as a "bike shop" bike.If you want a full suspension bike on a budget, the Giant Warp DS-2 seems better to me,but it also has problems.I prefer to buy a primo used bike that someone sunk a pile of money in but lost interest or whatever and they want to sell it cheap.Their loss, your gain.My biggest fear about buying a full-suspension bike is that with the multitude of different shocks and rapidly changing technology that a year from now the thing will break and parts will be unavailable.
