Here's a suggestion for the suggestion message board---don't even think about riding or owning a rigid hardtail (or a hardtail for that matter)
Today, my 3- month -old Raleigh rigid turned on me and didnt go where I wanted and I took some scratches on my right arm by hugging the side of a fireroad's hillside of all places.
Funny thing is, 5 minutes before, the darn thing cleaned the ST and turned on me on a little mickey mouse rut on the fireroad back to the car. I guess its my fault for thinking I had a fork in front to bounce my azz out of it like usual.
Also the rigid mother forker makes one's hands feel like they just had a workout with a jackhammer and the front wheel needs truing every other week. Anyone have a good used 1" steerer fork with 63 or 80mm of travel? Posted by The Real FatCat riding a POS rigid HT Raleigh USA M40 on 04/11/04
Is this your only bike? If so I would invest in a fork. I have a rigid singlespeed that I ride maybe once a week, and its fun, but if it was my full time ride I would go crazy. It really keeps you on your toes, and its fun to clean technical sections, and have everyone look at you in amazement. Re: Rigid No Good
Please pass this along to DDawg as he passes your @ss uphill and down on his fully rigid SS.
Oh, and when in Phoenix go for a ride with Alex and his rigid Santa Cruz. It ain't the bike, but in your case I might make an exception.
I have some of those Specialized Ground Control Gel gloves, NOS, if you need them.
I went back to full rigid on my Alpinestars when a fork was in for warranty, and remember that it was a good way to relearn bike handling skills. It also sucked. Posted by EBasil riding a Manitou HT from San Diego on 04/12/04

The bike was watching out for you. It turned you into the hill side instead of the down hill side! Good luck finding a 1" steer tube shock. Bike Nashbar has some about 6 months ago. Posted by Pedlerbill a Old year old Weekend Warrior riding a Specialized M2 Stumpjumper from Portland, Or on 04/12/04

Re: Rigid No Good
I think rigids are useless, sure you can build your climbing muscles, but you can do that on any bike with platform valving. plus the parts usually fail after a while. Posted by JasonLee a 28 year old Weekend Warrior from Chatsworth on 03/03/06
