This Site Suggestion MessageBoard
- Re: This Site Suggestion MessageBoard
Perhaps adding an OT board would appease the beeyotch-and-moaners?

I prefer this format to the old one. It seems to be more difficult for the suggly boys to carry on their chats and flame me whenever I post. Posted by Gringo a 52 year old on 11/05/04

The new home page isn't to friendly. You have to hit the drop down to see what is going on. The previous way was much better and user friendly. TGIF Paz Afuera Posted by Papisimo on 11/05/04

The don't like the drop downs very much, it's less intuitive at a glance.

New layout looks fine on my Mac using Safari, Mozilla or IE. (1920x1200) Two complaints/suggestions: 1. Why does every new post in a thread get it's own link on the main page? Every thread other that the most current one gets buried. 2. On this thread it looks like the posts are in order chronologically oldest to newest. (like the "classic" board) On the Best Beer V thread my new post went to the top of the page instead of the bottom. I would prefer the "classic" order. Anyone else? Posted by Black Bart on 11/01/04

OK, I guess this one is reverse order also. Posted by Black Bart a 31 year old on 11/01/04

The lines in the background make it really difficult to read. Posted by Mudpuppy a 32 year old on 11/01/04

I agree with Mudpuppy on the lines. I'd opt for a 'clean' and lean look myself, but thanks for asking. Posted by STP a 45 year old on 11/02/04

Get rid of those annoying flames at the bottom and the cheesy red font at the top. It's just too much RED! And while you're at it, if you really want a real suggestion board for the site that doesn't turn into every other board you should put it at the bottom of the homepage, or a non-threaded message board. I like most of the new look, the area in which you wrote about keeping on subject... at the top of the page is too difficult to read because of the backround lines. Also, bike link central overlaps the socalmtb.com banner.Otherwise, nice change. Also, can we have a rant area for whatever BS one of us might want to talk about... aside from bikes? Thanks! It's definetely your "Windows" size. Practically no one runs 800X600, much less 640X480. The standard now is 1024X760 & 1280X1024. This is because most LCD flats are not multi-sync and need to fixed on 1 resolution. You must have a really old monitor/computer to still be running 800X600 or you're blind. GLTY Zee! I take it that you think the font is too small? Posted by Webmaster on 11/01/04

Just a little. I'm running 1280X1024 and it's too small for me. What I like less is the background. After a few seconds of looking at it, your eyes start hurting. Too bad you can't code it (or could you?) so it displays in various sizes, depending on the users resolution.Other then that and so far, I like what I see. Good job, Steve!

What size font did you use in your replies? That one is readable on my LCD monitor, but the new stock size is just a shade too small when viewed at the settings I use everywhere else. Posted by EBasil on 11/01/04

- Re: This Site Suggestion MessageBoard
It's not your browser, it's the screen size you use. We build the site to work best at 1024 x 768, but still work at 640x480 or 800x600. With the smaller screen size our sponsor's banner will overlap our domain logo. It's just the way we handle all the screen sizes. Posted by Webmaster on 11/01/04

Even with Mozilla the socalmtb.com graphic is still covered up, partially. But you're right, no one uses IE. ;) Posted by ZG a 34 year old on 11/01/04

Wow - that was a hot series there, Jekyl/Hyde: "OH MY GOD THE SKY IS FALLING AND THIS SITE SUCKS. I HATE." "Steve, thanks for being special. I think I'm special. Everyone, the site will be a lot better soon as a result of my efforts." Posted by OPP on 11/23/04

The board is dead and pretty boring right now. But there are plans in the works to change things for the better. Once the changes were explained, I see where the site is headed. I understand why it's all screwy right now. It's not from my efforts, but thanks for letting me know I'm still special. Posted by El Jefe a 35 year old on 11/23/04

- Re: This Site Suggestion MessageBoard
Steve, either I've discovered a bug or there's a limitation on how deep a thread can go. Here's an example. Notice the last thread posted by El Jefe, notice how you can only reply to the "main" thread rather then reply "to this" or "main" thread. This explains why sometimes people post to the wrong thread without intending on doing so.
