Take Foothill Blvd. to Haines Cyn.and go North. When you get to Day St. make a right and then an immediate left "this is where Haines Cyn. continues." Go to the top of the street, park where you can. "All residential area" but it's o.k. Go through the gate and follow the dirt road up and to the right. You should see a small pond to your right. Thomas Guide page 504-B3

Once beyond the metal gate that starts at the fire road, the trail is very rocky and loose. You will soon arrive at a junction where basically you get 2 choices. Go straight up the rocky difficult path or turn left and go up the gentily inclined well maintained fire road.
The path straight up is steep and difficult due to the conditions of the fire road. Be prepared to do some trick maneuvering to go around the rocks because the conbination of steep incline and loose gravel can make climbing difficult.
If you go to the left up the gentle hill, you'll be pleased to find a wide and well maintained fire road. There are some muddy spots with water flowing down the hill side that adds to the thrill of MTB.
Like Matt pointed out below, it goes all the way down and is a blast to ride downhill. Climbing back isn't that hard except for maybe 2-3 areas where it is steep for beginner or those who are physically challenged (me!).
Very few riders on this trail so it's all yours!
