Southern California Trails

  • Fort Ord Public Lands - #FortOrdPublicLands

Norcal - - Seaside NickNames: #FortOrdPublicLands the goat, sea otter course

There are a large number of trails on what used to be the US Army Base (Ft Ord). The trails can be reached from multiple locations as follows:
    1. from Hwy 1 take reservation road east, there are several stops along reservation where you can start.
    2. from within the old Ft. Ord (POM Annex now) you can park and start at the end of Gigling road. (Enter the main Gate, right at the light, left at Burger King, follow to the end).
    3. you can also reach the trails from the Laguna Seca recreational area.

    • Trail UpdateThanksgiving Morning Ride-I've been hearing a bunch lately about a ride out in Ft. Ord set for early Thanksgiving morning. I am originally from the area, and now live hundreds of miles away, but I always come back for the holidays. I guess I'm going to bring my bike because some locals that I still keep in contact with say that a large group of usually hung over individuals, get up early and hit the trails. Anybody hear of such an endeavour ? I'd be into it. Oh yeah and I'm sure they'll be taking sign ups at the Penny Farthing on the wed. night before Thanksgiving.
      GO CHIEFTAINS !!!!

    • Trail UpdateThe Ft. Ord public lands are the site of the Sea Otter classic and thus are excellent trails. If you come out and ride here you have to make a trip down the 'Goat Trail'. If you feel like getting beat up shoot down Red Rock Trail. There are maps of the major trails posted at most of the entry points so you don't get lost. The views aren't too bad and you can usually spot a few wild creatures during your ride. The trails aren't real busy so you can usually fly along at a good rate of speed.
