STP---you still using bar ends? I'm thinking about going back to them, these shorties:
they were in the jenson flyer and the older I get the more help I need with my quest for deep climbing...must climb...steep shizo.... Posted by Mongoose a 67 year old riding a Bullit on 05/08/07
I hear you about the bar ends. I rode an 07' Specialized S-works bike that belonged to a friend, that had a pair of the very minimal carbon bar ends. The thought did go through my mind, though I am reluctant to move the grips and controls any closer to the middle, as I'm running SRAM's gripshift system, which takes up a lot of space to begin with. If I had the rapid-fire type, I'd be willing to try them out. The ones pictured are a little clunky looking. You might check out the more 'ergonomically' shaped carbon bar-ends that have nice curves and contours for your mitts. STP, are you using 25-26" bar? Posted by Mongoose a 67 year old riding a Bullit on 05/11/07

Re: paging STP
I'm with STP, those are kinda clunky, there are better ones out there. But they certainly do help :) -URT Posted by Unrealtrip a 32 year old Weekend Warrior riding a Superstring from The recesses of reality on 05/08/07

Re: paging STP
just ordered the shorty bar ends (welcome to 1995) from Nashbar (on sale n' free shipping til middle of May) but hell, changing your hand position on long rides is good to prevent fatigue. (I used to grab my crouch but other riders didnt appreciate that, heheh.) So for a shimano user, bar ends are OK, as these wont take much room on the bars. And for 3 hour plus rides,to prevent hand postion fatigue its a cheap alternative. Posted by Mongoose a 67 year old riding a Bullit on 05/11/07

Re: paging STP
Yes, you're right. The cheap alternative IS grabbing your crotch..
But, you're kinda used to that, aren't ya? Posted by Crzyridr33 a 35 year old Die-hard Enthusiast riding a very light bike on 05/11/07
