Meticulous bike builds and bike repairs. Done right the first time by pro mechanics who know all the tricks and have the right tools.
Professional staff without the snooty attitude can help with decisions on bikes, componentry, and bike fit.

this place is small and not a chain store, the owner mike is very sneaky and they will find any way to squeeze pennies out of you. everything is overpriced too. DO NOT SHOP HERE

this is an awesome shop. i was always satisfied with the service and workers. i bought my first king headset from mike and ian and north of the border became my shop. i bought much more stuff and what was hard to get a hold of they would track down and get for me. once from another shop in another state. anyway i live in portland oregon now and on the rare occasion that i get to talk to someone going south i tell them to head in to north of the border. place kicks ass.

This is a great shop. I bought a KHS AM 2000 from Mike last September. Very pleased with the bike and the service at North of The Border. Very honest with what works and what doesn't. I like that. Mike hasn't sent me in the wrong direction yet on several purchases. It isn't just about the money with this shop.Mike cares about his customers.

Seriously the best shop I've been to. Rebuilt my boxxer in a couple days AND Mike went through my bike and tweaked back all the things that come apart and wear over time. Mike and Eric are cool to talk to and Mike is crazy knowledgeable about forks. The service here is like going to a Mercedes dealership vs. a Jeep lot. If you need something fixed, go see these guys. You will not be disappointed.

Only been there once so far. Stumbled across it one day and went back to have a fork installed. Kind of small shop but super friendly and helpful.

I used to live in the San Diego area, and Ian took care of my bikes for 2 years.
Ian is a great guy, very reliable, who does a very excellent work.
Even though he had the tendency to make fun of my nearly non-existent French accent, I would very highly recommend him.

This is the no attitude, supportive, and
educational bike shop that we all need. Even
though I didn't buy my bike from Ian, he has done
excellent work and made suggestions for upgrades
that I have been very pleased w

Great prices esp. on high end frames and components. The only place I really trust for repairs etc. and Ian's a great wheelbuilder. I think the 'low-rent' location is why the prices are lower. I've tried maybe 15 shops in San Diego--this is where I spend my bike dollars. Ian is a great customer advocate--he'll get you a warranty repair or replacement even if he has to yell a bit at the manufacturer!
