Own a Motiv M Aluminum 6061 I bought at COSTCO years ago. Great bike for me. I recently crashed bending the rear frame and tire. Would like to replace the rear frame. Any parts available? Any shops that can do the repairs. I don't want to buy a new one, I really like this bike.|

I've ridden the same stock Motiv Vortex all over Colorado XC
trails since 2003. Getting out probably once a week, I can't
belive it's lasted this long, for a bike of this price I have no
complaints, it shifts, stops, wheelies. It might not be as light as
my wifes $3k specialized, but I'm a bigger guy at 220 and don't
blame tough climbs on the bike. Also the rear linkage is
identical to hers. This summer I'll probably upgrade the front
fork as the plushness of the stock mozo is all gone, it'll take big
hits but there's too much vibration transfer just riding.
When ever someone asks about a motiv on a bike forum you get
yuppies telling them it's a waste of money and it'll just fall apart.
That's bullshit. I've ridden the crap out of this bike and I'll take it
out again tomorrow. I honestly can't justify spending thousands
of dollars on bikes I pass on the same trails. Buy one, if it
breaks costco'll take it right back anyway, you have nothing to
lose, but tons of $$$$$ to save. lol they probably dont even
make em anymore, what a waste of time this review has been.

I ride my Motiv Vortex 14 miles to school over the Pali Highway in Oahu Hawaii from Kailua to downtown Honolulu. This baby kicks like a mule. I've had it for nearly a year and a half and the only problem with the bike just happened recently. The gears are a little messed up but with some improvised tuning she should do just fine.

Not a great bike
The Smoothie is a good bike - I did have one problem...the right crank pedal threads stripped. I called Motiv and they quickly shipped a replacement crank at no cost. However, I've had trouble getting the crank removed, so I must resort to a shop for the repair.
Tim a 50 year old Weekend Warrior, riding a Motiv Smoothie,
I bought my Motiv Smoothie 8/2003 and has logged 5,900 miles on it. I've replaced the pedals and seats (w/ very light roadies seat) and dismounted the stand to save weight. I'm on my second sets of tires I've replaced when I hit 4,600 miles.
I've installed a Sigma cycling computer to monitor my cycling miles. I've been very happy and satisfied with my Motiv and would like to compliment Motiv Sports for marketing a plain "Costco" bike that can perform like those with the big names.

I bought a Motiv Vortex A year and a half ago; replaced
the front suspension with a 2004 Manitou Minute shock,
then replaced the three piece crank and front derailer,
and the bike hasn't stopped ticking yet!!!! I've ridden
this bike down hill against riders featuring $ 2,500 bikes
and still smoke them with style! This bike WILL treat
you good IF.... you properly maintain it and replaced the
cheesy components that originate on it...........

After only my third time riding my Motiv Vortex, the right pedal fell off. The threads in the crank where the pedal screw in are completely stripped out. I bought the bike completely assembled at Costco. I am now starting to think that Motiv uses cheap parts.

This is a kick ass Frame. All you need to do is upgrade a little and it will be a sweet bike. DON"T LISTEN TO ANY BODY ELSE
Andy a 15 year old Downhiller, riding a Motive Vortex,
My two year old Motive Vortex has been great for morning workouts through the Peters Canyon Ridge trail for 2-3 times per week. Anything that has bent or broken on my bike has also bent or broken on my other buddy's $1500+ bikes so I feel I got a great deal. Plus, my buddies are all amazed when Motiv is quick to send a replacement part, for cheap or FREE and fast! If you destroy this bike, you're either a downhill freak, or you take pleasure in destroying bikes, no matter what they cost.

I am 60 years old & went to COSTCO to pick up a few items & brought home two new MOTIV SMOOTHES !I got them to ride around our neighborhood & to take camping. Was I surprized at how much fun & excercise it gives me .I now ride at least 10 miles daily & have not had any major problems yet!The factory gave me the ok on taking it to my local bike shop & is reimbursing me for the two minor tuneups up to $48.00 each!I would recommend these bikes for anyone like myself who is NOT ever going to take them to off road riding trails!Happy biking redmtnman

We bought a Smoothie 6061 on 2/22/03 at Costco for my 11 yrs old son. He loves it very much. Most of time, he rides the bike circle around our circle lane several times after dinner. But I was shocked tonight. The bike injured him. It happened when he was riding the bike with his friend wondering on the road. The front brake wire suddenly completely loose and came out, the unfastened front brake caused the handle lost control. He was thrown to the front at that moment that badly injured his mouth, and bruise all over the arms and legs after he fell down. The helmet protected him from the serious injury. He was lucky didn't ride too fast.
I can't believe it happened on a less than 6 months new bike!
When we bought the bike, it had been assembled already. We checked everything before hand it to my son. There was no loose part then. The sudden front brake collapse could be either assemble or the quality problem. I am writing this to alert people check the bike carefully before let the kid ride on it. Hope it won't happen any more!
By the way, the broken front brake cannot work properly forever!

I bought a vortex bike, as soon as I got on them the chain derailed. after 5 minutes of riding, I found myself in pain due to the chair. maybe its me, but I am beginning to have second thoughts, the parst seem to be cheaper than I expected

I purchased a Motiv Vortex three months ago, and I love it! I use it for trail riding, as well as my ocasional bike commute to work. Last month, I called the toll free number I found on my bike to see if the really existed. The person who answered the phone was helpfull and very friendly. I asked for some replacement grips (I tore mine on a ride), and Motiv sent them right away. Needless to say, I am a very happy Motiv customer.

Motiv Vortex's a great bike, comfortable, reliable, and sturdy.
kile johnson a 23 year old Weekend Warrior, riding a Motiv Vortex,
bought a vortex put flat spots in the rear rim, snaped the handlebars, and i just snaped the frame. besides that all the components are cheap, then again what should i expect for not paying two grand or more.

I Got a Motiv Vortex from Costco. The bike sucks. I've only had it for a month and the rear derailer got messed up and it won't switch gears. Then when i called the company they wouldn't answer me.
