Whittier Cyclery is the quitessential bike shop! |
They have everything from your 12" little kids
bike to your awesome Full Suspension Bike to your
weight weenie loving USA Made Carbon road bikes.
If they don't have it, they get it for me at a
great price too. All these people taking smack on
this shop would probably irritate you if they went
into your shop. Bottom line, this shop rocks and
their prices are better than the other guys.

I cant believe some of the reviews I saw here. I love this store. Yes, if you are trying to buy a cheap beach cruiser, this is not the place for you. They only carry good to great quality bikes and materials, at the best prices I've found (and believe me, I spend way too much time trying to get the best prices).
I have shopped with them for over a decade now and I'm pretty sure they have been in business for 50 years. The owner is a great guy who will always steer you towards the best product for you. Yes, sometimes it is the more expensive product, but he'll explain the value you are truely getting out of spending a little bit more and he's yet to steer me wrong.
This shop is great for people who are looking for a quality bike at the lowest prices around.
Frank B. a 32 year old Die-hard Enthusiast, riding a Specialized,
These guys are overpriced and pretty much ignore what the customer wants and tries to talk the customer into expensive and overpriced bikes or repairs. I bought my wife a GT Mountain bike from these guys and went back a few years later to get her a 3 speed Cruiser, when we went back to buy the Cruiser the guy talked us out of buying the Cruiser and talked us into fixing the GT Mountain bike. why you ask? so those jerks could make more money on fixing the GT than having my wife buy a bike from them that she really wanted (we spent nearly what the Cruiser was going to cost to get the GT going again) and then when we went back 2 months later(my wife could no longer ride the GT because of a neck injury)the guy did not want the GT as part of a trade deal for the Cruiser 'cause he would not make money on the deal(after we put almost $200.00 in the bike 2 months prior). WE WILL NEVER GIVE WHITTIER CYCLERY OUR BUSINESS AGAIN. UP YOUR BUTT JOBU!! ALSO AVOID WHITTIER UPTOWN CYCLERY (G'S BIKE SHOP)... THOSE GUYS ARE SOOO WRONG,THEY HAVE BIG ATTITUDES AND SMALL SELECTION

He basically snapped at me after I was checking out a bike & said that he didn't want me touching the bike.. I guess I didn't look like I had the $$ ? I just left & didn't make a scene, but I'd recommend spending your time & $$ else where. Or if you have to go here, avoid the short gray haired JERK.
Even Thomas a 23 year old Downhiller,
Did not fix what was asked of them. When I asked the owner what happened he got irate, started yelling and called me a liar. He even stated that he never made mistakes and the he was a professional. He ended up fixing the part but acted like a major jerk in the process and showed me he was no professional business man. Itís a shame he was so bad because the mechanic was very helpful and knew what he was doing.
Anthony Fisher a 40 year old Weekend Warrior,
This is a great shop. I have purchased a couple of bikes including many accessories. The staff is also very knowledgeable especially the short salesman.

Stay away from this shop. Poor customer service. The owner has his son working there, and don't know anything.Me and my brother in law were looking for bikes, the owner's son totally ignored us,went to help somebody else, guess he figured we didn't have the money for two bikes.
They have totally gone after the kids bike crowd, I guess they figure that the serious biker will come back for tuneups, etc.By going after this crowd, they know that those customers will never come back.Avoid this shop like the plague. If I treated my customers like they do, I'd be fired.

This Shop is Great! I have an entry leve road bike and the guys in the shop actually take me seriously and always help me out with riding advice and have even invited me out on rides. I had trouble with the shifting on my bike and also had problems with the bottom bracket. The guys at the shop changed the front derailleur and also changed out my bottom bracket which have worked flawless. I forgot to mention they did this all at no cost to me. They know how to treat their customers and after searching other stores I found out their bikes are $10-20 cheaper!!!!! If you want a great place to shop at with friendly service, this is the place for you!

This shop SUCKS! my dad has bought 5 bikes here 4 at the same time! we went back for service and got nothing but problems. my dad tryied to put a crank on his bike in the shop they told him he had to leave, "cant work on your bike in the shop"! i broke the frame on my GT dirt jump bike i was 14(i think) at the time i went to ask them about the warrenty with the frame, he wouldnt check it for me. said, i missed used the bike because i had a bent rim and GT's warranty is void because there going out of buisness! what the...heck! so my dad took me to La habra Cyclery they had me a new frame in a couple of weeks! This is deffinatly not the way to treat someone spending thousands at your bike shop.

Great combination of service and retail. Most bike stores lean toward one OR the other. I've been shopping at Whittier Cyclery for 30 years. Bought a Paramount in 1986 and then replaced it recently with a 2005 Trek Madone SL5.9 which was special ordered from Trek. Nothing but a great bike shop here !
Joel Catron a 38 year old Die-hard Enthusiast, riding a Trek Madone SL 5.9,
Over priced bikes is all they carry, Great selection but way over priced. Before buying there do a little pricing research and you will know what I mean. Great repair service and good looking shop, I will give them that.
Creep a 33 year old Racer, riding a GT LTS-1,
GREAT SHOP!! I RECEIVED NOTHING BUT ADVICE AND HELPFUL INFO, NO PRESUURE WHEN I WENT IN TO BUY MY BIKE AND ALL THE X-TRAS. I WENT BACK TO THIS SHOP BECAUSE I BOUGHT A BIKE THERE AROUND 12 YEARS AGO AND REMEBERED HOW NICE AND HELPFUL THEY HAD BEEN, EVEN THOUGH I NO LONGER LIVE IN THE AREA. AFTER ONLY ONE VISIT I WAS GREETED WITH A "HI, LARRY" WHEN I STOPPED BY A COUPLE WEEKS LATER. NICE TOUCH!! IT'S HARD TO FIND A SHOP THAT CARES ENOUGH ABOUT IT'S CUSTOMERS TO ACTUALLY REMEMBER THEIR NAMES. THE BIG BOYS HAVE EVERTHING IN STOCK, BUT SOMETIMES IT'S WORTH WAITING A FEW DAYS FOR A SPECIAL ORDER WHEN THE GUYS ARE THIS NICE AND HELPFUL.
These guys know what theyre talking about, and hook up some good deals. I've been shopping here for about ten years now, and theyve been nothing but the best.
Michael a 20 year old Die-hard Enthusiast,
I'm a novice that walked into the Whittier Cyclery with little knowledge except for the fact that 3 other stores gave me major attitude and impatient "advice". These guys were very friendly and extremely helpful. The got me set up with a good package for a great price and I never felt pressured nor did I feel mislead.
John a 22 year old Weekend Warrior, riding a GT XCR 5000,
So I called them up to see if they got the XT Hollowtech cranks. They tell me yes. I drive down there (1 hour drive), and they try to pass off a '99 as a '00. It's hard to support LBS when they do this kind of crap. Hopefully, not all shops are like this.
