A friend of mine and I bought a couple of Giant Anthem 2's a couple of years ago from this bike shop. Everyone that worked there was totally awesome, especially, Corey. These guys are the real deal! They are super knowledgeable. They patiently guided and educated us through our entire bike buying experience with tremendous professionalism. My friend and I always wish this bike shop was closer to where we lived. You can't go wrong here. They are knowlegable, fair and honest.

Awesome bike shop. Connor was very patient as I knew what I wanted on my bike and it wasn't the standard package. He took his time and presented me with several options for each upgrade and made sure I got the best price possible without giving the bike away. They were willing to work with me on the prices. By the way, bikes are genaraly pretty expensive and it is only to be expected that you should keep your kids from damaging the merchandise.

I love this place. I go whenever I get a chance. It's a wonderful environment with awesome service. Corey, Pat, Ryan, Conner, and James are all highly qualified and extremely honest. Ryan, Conner, and Corey helped me the most with choosing a bike, but everyone there did something to contribute. They lead me to a better bike rather than the most expensive. I feel confident that I got a great bike from a great shop! Thanks Guys!!!

After visiting 7 different bike shops in Southern California, I stopped into Coates on a Sunday 10 minutes before closing. Corey, the owner, was extremely helpful and patient in educating me about my different options with choosing the right bike for me.
As a novice triathlete I originally wanted a hybrid bike so I could handle the bike with more confidence than a standard racing style road bike. All the other bike shops I visited laughed at the idea of me wanting a hybrid bike, and they all asked, "what's the point? You can go faster on a road bike. " Well, I ended up testing several road bikes at the other stores only to feel pressured to buy a bike built for racing just to be more "in" with the other triathletes. I knew I wasn't really ready for that type of bike at this point, so I never ended up buying.
Corey never once pushed me to buy a road bike, but instead asked me why I was so apprehensive. He asked if it was the handlebars, or the brake positioning. I said it was both. He pulled out some bikes that were road bikes with straight bars, that I didn't even know existed until then. I was ecstatic! I tried about 5 different bikes ranging from $300+ to $900+, and didn't feel any pressure to buy at all. He just told me to take my time to think it over and then decide.
After visiting a few more bike shops and checking out pricing, etc. I ended up returning to Corey for his knowledge, patience, and personal service. He also had competetive pricing as well.
I ended up buying the Giant Cypress SL with the Carbon fork and seat post. I absolutely LOVE IT! Corey helped me trade out and upgrade some things that I needed, and gave me a great deal on everything.
Just wanted to add an additional note about the gentleman who had a negative experience with his 2 Yr old: I know it is difficult to keep telling our young kids to stop touching things because it's their natural curiousity. I had to bring my 3 year old daughter to the bike shops I visited and Corey was and always is wonderful to her. He gives her stickers, and talks to her all the time. Yes, she does want to touch the bikes, and yes, I constantly have to tell her to hold my hand, but I think that in any establishment where there is equipment that can injure a child, extra caution is needed.
I HIGHLY recommend this bike shop to anyone of any level.

My husband and I have been to every bike shop in So. Calif. and Coates is by far the most helpful of them all. Corey (the owner) always has time to help us with bike problems and purchases. If he doesn't have something in stock he will order for us and call us within a couple days for pick-up. Corey organizes Sunday morning rides that include all age groups and abilities and he never leaves anyone behind. This is a great shop with a excellent staff!

I would not go to this shop if you like friendly people helping you. My 2 year-old daughter accidentally knocked over a bike of theirs and the owner flipped out. I felt bad that my daughter did this, but the owner went on a rampage about how expensive the bike is and how you should watch your children more closely. I could understand his concern. However, I did not deserve a lecture on this. He was a real ass, then trying to say he was concerned that my daughter wasn't injured, when he never once mentioned or checked to see how she was. I left the store abruptly, and proceeded to a store in Orange County to spend my $800. Think twice before dealing with this store. I can only imagine how they would be on a warranty claim if they are this tight on money.

Great shop! Great service! Great owner! This is a BIKE shop. They eat, sleep, drink and talk -- bicycles. Corey is a cyclist...a huge plus. He knows what works and what doesn't. This shop doesn't SELL, they encourage YOU to buy. Not as high-end as Incycle, not as 'mom-n-pop' as Foothill Cyclery. Give um a try!!

This shop is awesome. I've been to a lot of shops in the area while shopping for a new bike (bought the KONA Bear). Even though I didn't buy it from Coates, they were still amazingly accomodating when I had a warranty problem. I had bought the bike from an ad on the internet from a store in connecticut. Not only did they hook me up, but I noticed, while hanging around in the shop, that they are very nice to all their customers, attentive to their needs, willing to go out of their way to help etc.
This is the shop to go to when you are looking for outstanding customer service!!!
Cory is the man!!!!!

I've been to a lot of bike stores and was becoming quite disillisioned with the hole scene.I happened into here (Coates) one day because it was close to work.I had recently been taken for a ride at another store and was leery to say the least so I set a trap to check them out for honesty and they passed with flying colors. They have done very good work for me on a consistant basis and are very attentitive to their customers.Eric seems to go the extra mile ,Jeff is very helpful and really seems to care about the customers. This is what a bike shop should be.They stock a lot of bikes but not that many componets.
