 Some info....
I'm primarily a mountain biker,he11 I'm an addicted mountain biker who doesn't think of much else outside of family and career, thats all there is. Except now I've gone and registered for the LA marathon. And so, therein lies my question:
On my training schedule I'm required to run each day a mininum of 40 minutes and a maximum of 60 minutes. After I do my required run, will it have a detrimental effect on my running performance if I go mountain biking.I will not be taking it easy on the biking, but a little maybe less then I normally would. Any info would be really appreciated.

On the contrary PF, it may improve your overall running performance. It will increase your stamina and work entirly different muscle groups. I've been a tri-geek /mtn biker /trail runner for years and feel that cycling has done nothing but help me improve my running skills. Whazup with the LA marathon though?? Have you tried trail running? Once you run/race on the dirt, you'll never go back.
good luck on the race though bra!

I occasionally run on trails now to train and I enjoy it a lot more then street running (same goes for biking). The marathon is just something I've always wanted to try.I also prefer riding over running, but I'm finding I enjoy them both although the running is harder on your knees. Thanx, for the input Timbo.
