 Slipping rear deraileur
I just got a new rear on my 2001 spec stumpy. It sleeps through the first 3 or 4 gears (not including the first) while in the middle chainring. I cant seem to figure out what the problem is. Could a bent hanger be the problem? Im really new to this so Im trying to fix as many problems by myself apposed to dropping my bike off to live at the LBS for a week. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I weight 275 lbs... I break things. haha. I hope I left this in the right place. By the way, hello everyone. First post.

most likely the tension on the cable for your rear der. is loose. try turning the little knob (barrel adjuster) at the derailleur where the cable goes in (clockwise if you're looking right at it) to pick up the slack. you can o the same thing at the shifter on your handle bar as well.
