 Digital Camera Suggestions
I'm looking to buy a 5.0 megapixel dig-cam to carry in my pack to document some of our trail ride misadventures/ daring dos (and don'ts). I want to carry it in my Camelback cell phone attachment (which I use to carry my gel flask, cell is buried deep in my pack and turned off...LOL). Can anyone offer up a suggestion? So far the Canon Powershot A95 looks fairly affordable and useful...thanks in advance for any help/advice!

I've got a Sony digital camera and love it! Have taken shots anywhere from the cool action shot to the artsy flower shot.. :)

This might be close to what you are looking for...

    A couple of thoughts...

I wouldn't be too set on 5 megapixel, as 4 megapixel is fine for photo quality prints up to 11"x14". Not to say you don't want 5 megapixels, but you might find other features like overall camera size, lens quality and zoom, price, might outweigh whether it is 4 or 5 MP.

I like my Olympus C-765UZ with 10x optical zoom. It produces great pictures, but for regular MTB use it might be slightly bulky. For MTB use I personally would put a lot of value on the overall size of the camera, and it's price. I would want something relatively inexpensive, small and light, and with as much zoom as possible.

I am not sure which camera to recommend, as I am still looking myself, but those are some of the considerations I have come up with. I like the camera I have, but it is not what I consider the perfect match for MTB use. I am interested to hear what others are using.

Olympus Stylus 4.0 4 megapixels, 3x optical zoom. Great camera, waterproof, small, durable (perfect for MTB'ing) Picked mine up for $375 2 years ago, probably cheaper now. Takes great pictures, only thing it somewhat lacks in is "fast action" shots.

The Sony Cybershot series is a good one to go with. Like Mac said, you want one that is small, and hopefully inexpensive. I have broken a few cameras already, but thankfully I didn't break the bank to get them either, so I wasn't to pissed about it. Is there really a difference between a 5.0 megapixel and a 4.1?

I'm gritting my teeth, but I agree with Pilot (?!); 4 MP are enough for prints up to 11x14. If you're printing larger than that, or need incredible resolution, then go with 5+.
I'd better shut up before I say something bad.

Keep in mind what you want to do with the images. Print, share over net, web site etc. You don't need many megapixels for web applications. My ride camera is a small inexpensive nikon 2 megapixel in my back shirt pocket. I use it all the time riding and i have taken some nice pics with it. Makes great prints up to 8x10 and it definitely makes for good web shots. Crashed on it a few times. I see it as semi-disposable in case I break it completely on a ride. I have a big 8 megapixel canon for all other photography that I leave at home as it is just too big and heavy to take on a ride.
