 POLL--7" travel Single crown forks
I just bought a Manitou 6"/150mm single crown fork, and frankly I think its just about" it" travel-wise
for a single crown, despite how fat the stanchions tubes are.

However for 05, Marzocchi went ahead and has 7" /170mm single crown
forks called the 66RC and 66VF.

Do you think that will end the travel race?
Or do you think Marzocchi is currently testing an 8" travel single crown?

I had 3 Z1's with 5" and thought another inch was capable
but going 7" was too extreme for a single.

And if Marzocchi's new 66 with 170mm does well,
I guess the others will probably follow suit. I just think 170mm for a single is a bit too much.

I know they have built a single crown moto fork, so who knows what the limits are on singles.

i think manitou's sherman breakout plus with 170mm travels is the stiffest sc 7" fork on the market.. the mar 66 is nice but i belive the breakout plus with the onepointfive steerer is the way to go fro freeride singalcrowns.

    just my opinion though

i love the sherman series and the spv rocks hands down..

When will to much be to much. Before you know it, 12" travel shocks will be out. Most people seem to buy these long travel forks just for show and to say they own one. I was to one of these types. I had a Super-T on my Gemini and unless I was to jump off of a roof, I never would have needed all that travel.

12 in travel has been out for a while, i.e. Super Monster T, and Karpiels. Those did'nt last very long.

I agree, unless you are hucking huge drops on a normal basis, there is no need for all of that travel, not to mention it will cost a fortune.
