Okay, so i've been looking around for the best bike rack for a pick-up truck. All you pick-up owners, which rack is best and why? Posted by Rydman a 26 year old Cross-Country riding a Grand Marquis from LA LA Land on 05/21/04

I don't know if Thule still makes the rack we've used for the last 14 years, but it's a fork-mount rig that spans the bed as a crossbar. It's stable enough to 4x4 the truck with the bikes in the back, and doubles as a loadbar and leash mount. The bikes ride higher than if they were mounted on a BikeTite on the floor of the bed, but we can load more in the bed (w/ or w/o bikes) than we could with the floor mounts.
Any crossbar style rig should be pretty good, just look to see that it's sturdy and actually clamps the bed rails...the "shower rod" style units can come loose or dimple the sides of singlewall truck beds.

Delta has a crossbar rack. 100$ gets you the rack with two fork mounts. 20$ for each add'l fork mount. Posted by MtnbikeMike a 19 year old Racer riding a Diesel/Fuel/R-650 from La Verne on 05/21/04

The best - in my opinion - is the RempRack. Unique - solid - and holds 5 bikes!!
