 Pop Ups
Any ideas on how to get rid of them? I down loaded the Google Toolbar that was suggested to me by Joe Truth. Thanks joe but I am still getting some, although they have decreased. Anybody have the answer?

Any of you ever hear of the saying "There's no such thing as a free lunch"?

To increase you ability to block pop-ups, you are going to have to pay for the version that virtually does it all. At www.panicware.com, there is a free one called Pop-Up Stopper Free Edition, but it is only about 90% effective. They have one that you can pay a nominal fee for that is called Pop-Up Stopper Professional that blocks even more. *There are others out there, but I don't believe there is one among them that is completely 100% effective.

No kidding Junkie. You would think by now, this day and age, someone or some company would come up with a gizmo to stop all the Spyware and hence, pop-ups. In fact, you just gave me a great idea. I'm going to try and develop then patent a product that does exactly that. Watch me get silly rich Junkie!!!

BTW, don't listen to Big-E, he obviously knows very little.

OK, Joey...here we go. I've got that Ad-aware 6.0, free version, but it doesn't stop Pop-Ups. Ad-aware is a free multi spyware removal utility that scans your memory, registry, and hard drives for known spyware components and lets you remove them safely. That means it scans for already installed spyware and data miners AFTER they have taken root, so it is not on automatic pilot, like it should be, to prevent these programs from getting into your system in the first place. It must be manually used on a daily basis - too laborious for me, but not for someone who is walker-bound for life - to gut out these hideous files to have any affect at all. Your turn.

Now, this one I didn't have. And, it appears that it may do the complete job, so I will test it out, and let you know. To your credit, you have finally provided some substance to this board. BTW, I'm retired. PS: The shipboard navy does not eat MREs - they eat hot meals. However, the SeaBees, like the Army and Marines, do. Don't you feel better knowing more than you deserve or ought to know?

Another good program I've been using is called "spybot search and destroy" You can download new "spyware" definitions like a virus scanner. Supposedly this program will detect/remove/immunize you against almost all of the spyware programs out there.
