 R.I.P. Valley Bicycles Chatsworth
One of the best shops ever is history. I have been told that Valley Bicycles Chatsworth, known in the past as Chatsworth Cyclery, had been in business since the 1970's. I started going there in 1994 and they have been the best. Bikes, parts, service, the whole enchilada. Now the doors are closed, the bars are up, and no one is home. I hope that Bob pops up somewhere new and soon.

Dang! That really sucks. I bought my first high-zoot bike there, a Klein Pinnacle, back in 1990. Bought two more Kleins and a mess of parts from them over the next several years. Used to be owned by a short Jewish guy named Joe (forget his last name). A couple times I traded some kind Cali buds for parts...Joe was a smoker! One of their mechanics left to start a bicycle rental business in the Sepulveda Basin. I got a few of my buddies to be regular customers there. IIRC, they were one of three 'sister' shops owned by Joe: Chatsworth, Simi, and Saugus.

Good times. Sad to hear it's gone.

I never did any high stakes bartering with either Joe or Bob but I did get great products and service from both of them for almost 17 years. Bob is the best bike mechanic I have ever known.
