Road Message Board

 Tinker Juarez sighting
Hey, I recived this e mail over the weekend.

Greetings Friends and Citizens of Planet Ultra:

Our inaugural Mulholland Challenge was a smashing success! Every rider, no matter which distance they pedaled, enjoyed the awesome roads of the Santa Monica Mountains, did a heckuva lot of climbing in temperatures in the high 90s, and returned to the finish with smiles on their faces, raving about this epic new event!

To top off this excellent day, Planet Ultra was surprised, and honored, to host legendary mountain bike World Champion Tinker Juarez! Tinker hammered the course in 6 hours and 35 minutes (which included lots of off-the-bike time generously posing for photographs with very pleased fans). As if his finishing time wasn't impressive enough, Tinker rode the entire 112 miles and 11,600 feet of climbing in his BIG RING. His lowest gear a 53-23. WOW! Tinker says he's training to qualify for RAAM 2006 at Furnace Creek this fall. (Not only are we confident that he'll easily qualify, but we certainly wouldn't be surprised if he wins it!) We were thrilled that he kicked off his training on Planet Ultra. We believe that the ultracycling world is in for a huge treat! Tinker is an amazing cyclist - and all around great guy too!
